Job Description:

They are currently seeking a Director, Human Resources to support our Print Campus facilities in Concord, ON.Reporting to the President, the primary mandate will be to provide strategic guidance, direction and coaching to the management teams regarding effective management of the company's human resources programs. In addition to ensuring maximum efficiency in managing the human resource function for the campus, this position has responsibility and accountability for the day-to-day management of the Human Resource functions.

Accountabilities:

- Ensure all HR programs, initiatives and systems are maintained to achieve business plan objectives, legal compliance, and SJ Values and Guiding Principles
- Plan, facilitate and execute on all change management initiatives within the organization
Coach and counsel management in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, and manages internal investigations on matters of workplace harassment, progressive discipline etc.
- Oversee administration and financial resources of the company's group benefits programs such as life, health,dental and disability insurances, retirement plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance program
- Develop human resources initiatives to effectively attract, retain and manage employee talent and drive business success.
- Oversee health and safety program management and payroll.
- Maintain a pulse on associate issues/concerns; provide recommended actions to Senior Management to maintain positive associate relations and a union free environment.
- Attend weekly senior management meetings and reports on current HR issues as appropriate.
- Provide direct day to day HR support inclusive of coaching to operations on performance management and employment practices.
- Develop, deliver and coordinate training programs to ensure a properly skilled workforce is maintained.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures HR policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
- Act as internal consultant to management providing guidance in a proactive and fair approach to address personnel concerns and issues.
- Report on key performance measurables to show trends and highlight improvement opportunities and achievement areas.
- Oversee and manage Human Resource Team, provide opportunities for learning and development.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

- A progressive Human Resources Manager with a minimum of 10 years experience, with minimum five years in a management capacity. A designation in Human Resources will be an asset.
- University degree or Human Resources equivalent or Industrial Relations or related studies.
- Experience in the major sub-functions within human resources including but not limited to employee relations,recruitment, training and development and compensation systems is required.
- Solid human resources generalist background with strategic and execution expertise in the areas of recruitment, performance management, employee relations, training and development, leadership coaching,compensation, policy development and employee communication and retention.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Sound knowledge of provincial employment, health and safety and human rights legislation is a must.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Tact, diplomacy and confidentiality are essential; ability to initiate and coordinate projects; team player.
- A limited amount of travel may be required.

Job description:

The Senior Sub Editor Monitors incoming news. Makes snap decisions and ensures content is quickly edited and transmitted. Refines and codes content and improves content where appropriate, ensuring correct balance, style, objectivity and reliable sourcing. Liaises with journalists, other desks (including pictures, edref, TV and graphics) and specialist editors and provides feedback as needed. Monitors external media and other sources, identifying gaps in Reuters coverage and feeds into the news editing process. May create content on a breaking story. Alerts bureaux on beats picked up by competitors. May lead a subbing shift, allocating and monitoring work as it comes into the desk. Supervises quality of work of other subs (or reporters in some bureaux) providing coaching and feedback as required. May manage other subs directly. Revises and packages content per product requirements (e.g. Top News, glances, wraps, photo montages etc.) For local language services adapts, translates and codes international service stories per local client requirements. May directly inject to a local language service.

A role typically in a major editing centre, bureau filing operation or on a local language service. Assists other subs in prioritizing incoming content. May deputize for more senior editors/managers. May manage 1-3 other subs on a small desk or a bureau filing operation. Sub Editors may work on different types of content (text or pictures for example)
RELATIONSHIPS: Editorial management and staff. External clients for feedback on story coverage and news requirements.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Anticipate 8 years or more experience as a guideline, with an anticipated 2 years or more proven track record in sub editing or a strong reporting background. Some specialist expertise in an area of reporting. Proven track record of reporting to standards and principles. May be a correspondent with specialist knowledge looking to develop editing as a career step
